The City of Santa Maria encourages residents and businesses to register for its City-to-resident notification system.

With this service, authorized City personnel can send and track personalized voice messagesto any number of residents and businesses, with specific information about time-sensitive or common-interest issues such as emergencies and local community matters. Examples of notifications could include disaster information, and other related urgent or time-sensitive information.

This service is to supplement the City's current communication plans and augment public safety/first responder services.

The City of Santa Maria strongly urges all residents to register their contact information into the database to make sure they are ready to receive important information from the City at all times. Primary residential and business landline phones in Santa Maria are automatically included in the system. However, cell phones are not automatically registered. Also, there is a chance that a phone number is outdated or incorrect, or a resident may prefer to receive notifications through another method (email, text message, cell or a work number). Residents can opt-in to provide complete information (up to three phone numbers and two e-mail addresses).

Also, TV, radio and our city web site will continue to broadcast important announcements.

This system is an automated community notification tool designed to enhance preparedness and facilitate urgent and necessary outbound communications to residents. No single system or technology is perfect. The City and its vendor cannot guarantee that you will receive timely notification in the event of a community alert or emergency notification, due to the unforeseen problems that such an emergency could create. Database information is subject to change. The City makes no warrant, express or implied, or assumes any legal liability or responsibility for the accuracy or completeness of this non-mandated program. Should an emergency situation arise, it is important that you also continue to monitor other public safety warning systems whenever possible. It is important that you avoid calling 9-1-1 unnecessarily.
