The All-America City Committee is now accepting nominations for the Spirit of Santa Maria Award. The Spirit of Santa Maria Award is a civic recognition program aimed at those individuals, organizations, and/or businesses that contribute a significant amount of time, effort, resources, or funding towards addressing community concerns, thus improving the quality of life in Santa Maria. The goal of the program is to not only provide an opportunity to highlight and explain a program or community issue that has been improved through the efforts of Santa Maria residents, but also to emphasize that community service is important to the overall well-being of a community.
The nomination period will begin on Friday, April 8th. The deadline to submit a nomination is 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 29th. The selection of the award will be made by the All-America City Committee with advice from the City Council and City Manager’s Office. Nominations may be made by any member of the community. Recipients of the Spirit of Santa Maria Award will be recognized at a City Council meeting in June.
