August Youth Recreation Programs

Recreation Programs for Youth Ages 6 Through 12

 

The City of Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department will continue its popular Rec on the Move program through August. Rec on the Move is a safe and supervised program where elementary school-age youth participate in games and physical education activities. No registration is required to participate.

 

Beginning Monday, August 8th, the program will take place on weekdays from 2:30 to 5:00 p.m. at five sites:

 

  • Mondays, Buena Vista Park, 800 South Pine Street
  • Tuesdays, Bob Orach Park, 1800 Westgate Road
  • Wednesdays, Tunnell Park, 1100 North Palisade Drive
  • Thursdays, Newlove Community Building, 1619 South Thornburg
  • Fridays, Russell Park, 1000 West Church Street

 

Additionally, arts and crafts activities will be coordinated from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. on August 16th, 23rd, and 30th, at the Minami Community Center, located at 600 West Enos Drive. Registration is required for each session, including lessons in tape art, piñata making, and coaster customization. Guardians may register their youth for the Exploring Creativity program online at www.cityofsantamaria.org/register.
